Proof of Concept Reviewed at The Silent Ballet

Proof of Concept’s last EP, View From Above, was reviewed a while back on The Silent Ballet, and it seems like the EP left a lasting impression on the reviewer.

Here’s an excerpt:

“The last two tracks are the real kickers on the album. They are even more fast paced and get the listener hooked. If you haven’t checked out this album previously, and are still on edge about it, then these two tracks are well worth the price of admission — so much so that I’m not going to go on and describe them or talk about them any further, because if I did that I would just be handing you a short synopsis of great music and you need to let your ears have the privilege of discovering the beauty behind Proof of Concept for themselves.”

You can read the complete review here: Proof of Concept Review

Thanks to Erich Meister for giving this some coverage.

Can we get your support?

Caitlyn Hessell, who released Always There with us earlier this year just found out that she is doing really well in an online competition with the track Always There.

Entering the competition very late, and not having done any promotion, she was quite shocked to find she was at number 3 out of 376 entries, and now she’s even more shocked to find she is at number 1…..

So, if you like Caitlyn’s work and have a few minutes to help support her in the competition, then you can do so here: www.ourstage.com/banner/1/FNLANWNRFWVA

Auditory Canvas – New EP coming soon….

Thought we’d let you know that there will be a new EP coming from Auditory Canvas in September.

100% of all sales proceeds will be donated across 4 charities and non profit orgs.

David (aka Auditory Canvas) has this to say about the EP:

“There’s a new track in the player on my Myspace page – track 2 – Earth.

www.myspace.com/auditorycanvas

It’s a preview from my next EP due out in September.

Look out for a direction change in the track approx 2 mins into it…..I had a lot of fun making this track.

The concept is based around the state of our planet, and a hope to salvage what’s left of it, with 4 tracks each taking a theme….I’ll explain more soon.

Sound a bit like hippy stuff? well, sorry, but let’s face it, if we don’t do something now to change our ways, and also help the starving, and dying individuals that are suffering as a result of our carelessness, then we are all fucked, as are our future generations, and what gives us the right to wreck it for those not yet born?

The EP will include Get Green Soothe (providing sample clearance is obtained for the exceprt of Sever Cullis Suzuki’s lecture), plus another 2 tracks, both of which you’ll hear soon.

There will also be a few videos to accompany the tracks which I’ll be producing along with the help of many friends and strangers alike.

It’s quite an exciting project, and will be my first, and hopefully not my last foray into videos to accompany my EPs.

So let me know what you think of the track and the thoughts behind the EP if you find time.

David.”

Article on Doll Imago @ The Distracted Blog….

The Distracted Globe has recently posted an article on Doll Imago and her new EP….

Here’s an excerpt from the article:

“One of the good friends of The Distracted Globe is a pretty great musician who goes by the handle Doll Imago. In her other life, she has also been a huge help at the theatre, working backstage on almost everything at the Warehouse this season, as well as helping out with Rainbow Annie, and even performing in The Vagina Monologues. And today, she is releasing her first EP on the Summer Rain label……”

Caitlyn Hessell Reviewed at The Daily Free Press….

Seems Like Caitlyn is making a name for herself in Boston…The Daily Free Press at Boston University wrote an article on her and her work.

Here’s an excerpt from the article:

“Although her sound is currently acoustic and soulful a la Norah Jones, she wants to move away from that genre, possibly to collaborate with different types of musicians-techno DJ’s, trip-hop artists and even rappers.

“The songs I write on acoustic guitar are not meant to be acoustic songs,” Hessell said. “There is just so much more out there and I want to try it all.”….

Caitlyn Hessell Radio Interview….

The wonder that is Caitlyn Hessell was recently interviewed on WERS radio in Boston, which has also been published on their website.

here’s an excerpt from the interview:

While many musicians wait years before having their songs merited with remixes by other artists, acoustic singer-songwriter Caitlyn Hessell claimed this distinction with her debut album. The English label Summer Rain Recordings put out an EP in February of her hit “Always There” with three electronic artists glitching and cutting her mystifying lyrics on a serving of breakbeats. For the sake of tradition, WERS brought Hessell into the studio to rekindle our love for her original acoustics……

We are this week’s feat. label on Reverbnation Label Spotlight

Thought we’d let you know that we are one of the featured labels on Reverbnation.com. They do a spotlight on different labels each week, and this week they chose us….

You can also hear some of our forthcoming releases that aren’t on this site yet too, so worth a visit we think ;-) Just scroll through the artists and see what you find.

www.reverbnation.com/label/summerrainrecordings

As well as being a good place for artists, labels and clubs, Revernation is also a good place to find new music to listen to, without being too overloaded with music like some places we could mention.

Enjoy….
